Caring for your motorcycle gloves
Maximise the lifespan of your motorcycle gloves
Not all motorcycle riders know how to adequately care for their motorcycle gloves, leaving them vulnerable to damage and shortening their lifespan.
Great gloves form part of a great ride
Motorcycle gloves are an integral part of your ride, so it's important to take proper care of them. Without proper cleaning and maintenance, you'll find that your gloves won't last as long as they should and could become worn out quickly.
Having said all this you can’t go past a set of new gloves.
The best way you can look after your gloves is to replace them often. They cover and protect a very important part of your body. To state the obvious, the more you ride the more you will need to replace them. Changing riding styles can also change your glove rotation.
A few do’s and don’ts
- Make sure your gloves are thoroughly dry before putting them in storage. Storing them wet or damp can cause the material to become deformed and/or damaged.
- Store your gloves in a dry well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight.
- Clean them with a cloth, lukewarm water and a neutral soap and/or textile cleaner. Avoid solvents which can damage the glove.
- Whatever you are using to clean them, apply it to a cloth first and then the glove rather than directly to the glove itself. Don’t throw them in the washing machine.
How many times have you said to yourself , “I should have bought these gloves ages ago”. Get online and treat yourself to a new pair of gloves today.
